Hi, I am Emilio. I was educated at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and trained as a Civil Engineer here in Santa Barbara. The year 2020 is a year of exploration for me as I experiment with making my two passions, baking and biking, my living. This idea was born out of my love for baking and biking-hence the name bikery. I wanted to combine my two hobbies by making sourdough bread for others and delivering my products by bike to those local to Santa Barbara.
After getting a knee injury in 2017, I had extra time that I used to learn to bake bread and pastries in a small kitchenette. Very quickly, I began to share my baking hobby with others. As I experimented with sourdough bread, I began to realize that the natural levain (or sourdough starter) can be added to other pastries besides just bread. This can include cookies, scones, cakes, pie crusts, and so many others. I am now sharing this passion with others, and I hope that I can share it with you as well!
1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 is my favorite Bible verse and making sourdough bread takes a lot of love and patience. It is a reminder of the way that I should be treating others and as well as myself.
Love is patient, love is kind.

I bake sourdough products and then deliver (usually by bike) to customers here in town between Montecito and Goleta. Deliveries often occur on Fridays. I will bike somewhere between 25 and 50 miles depending on where my customers are located for that week.
