This past week went pretty well. I got 7 or 8 orders of bread, but I decided to make 14 loaves of bread like the previous week. It turns out that my neighbors are very interested in homemade sourdough bread! I sold 13 loaves and saved one for myself and my roommate. The Italian Sesame Seed Cookies turned out really good, and I have to admit that I ate 4 of them after they came out of the oven :). I also experimented with the yam sourdough bread and a black bean sourdough bread. The yam sourdough bread will be made on the week of July 6th when I am making purple yam/sweet potato pies. The black bean sourdough bread was good, but I probably won’t be adding it the menu anytime soon.
Next week, I will be baking on Saturday evening after my full-time job and then delivering on Sunday morning. The reason for this is so that I don’t wake up my roommate at 3:30 am while I am putting the dough in the refrigerator to do its final rise.
This past weekend got to see my family for the first time in 6 months for father’s day. We hung out and met up in San Luis Obispo where I went to College for civil engineering of all things. They took home the purple yam sourdough breads and some cookies that I made.
I also got some of my business information organized. Expenses, receipts, and doposits were organized in a ledger that my mom made for me in a spreadsheet. I am calling that a huge positive. Only a “few” more things to figure out…a logo, business cards, business plan, checking pricing for current profit margins, opening up a business bank account, figuring out how to stay organized in an efficient manner, keeping my website organized, and there is probably so much more. But probably most of all is to enjoy myself in this adventure and to see where this takes me!
This week, I am making Muesli Sourdough bread and amazing Sourdough Chocolate Chip Cookies. If you haven’t already guessed, everything I make is sourdough, even my pie crusts!
